In Israel, Barack Obama was twice given the chance to answer the question, “Can you ensure that there will be no second Holocaust?” Both times Obama declined to answer. The American media did nothing to engage Obama on the issue.

Obama has likewise stripped the American flag from the back of his new 757 in favor of his campaign logo. The American media has done nothing.

Obama, speaking at Israel’s Holocaust Memorial alluded to World War 2 by saying we stopped evil by “speak[ing] out in one voice.” First, that’s not true and second, he totally ignored the sacrifice of soldiers and sailors who were the people who actually stopped the evil not by speaking, but by fighting. The American media did not note this glaring omission.

Patrick Ruffini notes Obama is now on to Germany for a great propaganda show. He’ll have film makers there to shoot commercials for his campaign.

This event is supposed to not be a political event. Obama is, I would presume, subsidizing his travel with U.S. Senate funds and thus cannot really have a political trip. Nonetheless, Obama is passing out the poster above, attempting to use Germans as part of his propaganda.

No, Obama and his campaign are not the heirs of Leni Riefenstahl, Hitler’s propagandist.

It is more and more clear the media is the heir apparent.

Throughout Obama’s Middle East and European trip, the media has willingly participated in a show and orchestration of propaganda, passing out staged and orchestrated images of Barack Obama attempting to boost his image.

The media covers Obama as if he is President.

NBC refers to Obama’s trip as a “tour of duty.”

Most importantly, only Andrea Mitchell admits that what we are seeing is carefully staged. The scenes of Obama with the troops, the interviews, everything is phony. He is a potemkin candidate and the media is playing along.

Why is it that no other major members of the media have mentioned this?

Why is the media willing to give Obama a pass on his Berlin rally — not asking the tough questions about why his campaign is passing out fliers for people to attend a non-political speech?

Why? Because the media has become the self-appointed propaganda master for Barack Obama’s campaign. The media has become Leni Riefenstahl. Therein lies the danger. By becoming Obama’s propaganda master, the media is failing to ask the tough questions in its quest to do their candidate no harm.

And that is a disservice to the public. Of course the public already knows it. And that is the Achilles heel John McCain can exploit.

One of the two does not compute.

Here is the Rocky Mountain News’s profile of Andrea Robinson, the first Director of Sustainability & Greening for the DNC. In it, they note

On a sweltering Wednesday in June, Robinson, a thirtysomething who’s worked on environmental initiatives for the Clintons and Al Gore, already has switched off the power strips in her Denver apartment, walked to work, trotted down the 16th Street Mall to two meetings, declined a plastic foam container for her vegetarian lunch burrito (recyclable foil is preferred) and confessed to one sin: drinking her afternoon tea from a paper cup. Normally, she carries her own drink container.

Here is the DNC profile of Ms. Robinson. In it, the DNC writes

With more than 25 years in the environmental field, Ms. Robinson has a long history of greening large scale events, developing corporate sustainability practices, championing renewable energy, endangered species & habitat protection issues for political campaigns and creating waste diversion and reduction programs.

I’d submit that Ms. Robinson is either lying about her age, which is perfectly okay with me, or the DNC is lying about her 25 years of experience, unless we include junior high stuff in experience now. If so, I’ve got a resume to update.

Macon Police have arrested more people in connection with massage parlors in Macon. Of 13 raided this time, 5 spas had 12 people arrested. 8 spas were raided last time with 13 arrests.

Last time, the Chief of Police was asked if there were signs of human trafficking at the businesses. He said no.

This time he was asked and said he’d now need to say “no comment.”

The Police have started receiving training on signs of human trafficking.

Internally, Mayor Reichert and I are proceeding with legislation to shut these places down and prevent them from reopening.

We’ve had a crazy month in the Erickson household.

The first week of July, Christy and Evelyn went to Illinois for family reunion.

The second week of July, I went to Washington for most of the week.

The third week of July, I went to Austin, TX for a conference for four days.

Last night, Evelyn was convinced I was going to leave again if I left her presence, so she insisted I sleep with her. She finally got still at one point and I tried to leave (I was working on 4 hours of sleep total). She woke up and started crying, “I want my daddy!”

Christy and I decided to violate our sleeping rule and we put Evelyn in bed with us. We do not let Evelyn sleep with us.

Last night she did. She laid next to me stroking my shoulder until I rolled over on my side. At that point, she put her feet in the small of my back, grabbed the tag on her pink bear with one hand and put that hand’s thumb in her mouth, and used her other hand to stroke my shoulder until she fell fast asleep.

At one point in the night she woke up to make sure I was there. I felt a hand on my neck and opened my eyes. She stared at me for just a second then rolled over and went back to sleep.

Good grief.

An activist group hoping to pressure the Roman Catholic church into dropping its long-standing prohibition barring women from the priesthood says it ordained three women on Sunday.

Church officials did not recognize the ordination, and the Vatican has previously warned that women taking part in ordination ceremonies will be excommunicated.
The group known as Roman Catholic Womenpriests held the ceremony at the Church of the Covenant, a Protestant Church in Boston.

The group said the three women - Gloria Carpeneto of Baltimore, Judy Lee of Fort Myers, Fla., and Gabriella Velardi Ward of New York City - are responding to a heartfelt call to serve the church as priests.

A fourth woman, Mary Ann McCarthy Schoettly of Newton, N.J., was ordained as a deacon, the group said.

So, let’s ignore what the Bible has to say and just do what our heart leads us to do. Generally the whole heart/head combo leads you to sin. In this case it certainly has led to a bad case of arrogance.

I always find it humorous how purported Christians want God to change for them instead of themselves changing for God.

We played this on air on WMAC yesterday and I’ve gotten over 100 emails, plus phone calls, since then begging me for a link to the clip and to play it again.

In the 7am segment this morning, we’re going to do just that. In the meantime, here’s the clip:

Family15 Jul 2008 09:12 pm

Tonight we put Evelyn to bed and she spent a good deal of time saying she needed to go potty to get out of going to bed. When she finally went to bed, Christy and I went downstairs to eat and Evelyn started screaming and crying, calling for us.

It sounded very much like a stalling cry. But after 15 minutes the crying grew more intense and she was clearly saying she needed something. I went upstairs and she had tears coming down her face.

“I need say my blessing and thank God for Miss Sarah and Miss Katie and Miss Joyce and Miss Nancy.”

I kind of chuckled and she got very serious. “I *need* to say my blessing, Daddy.”

So we did.

And Evelyn drifting off to sleep.

Evelyn comes streaking through my office and sees a onesie with airplanes and fire trucks on it.

Evelyn: Heeyyyyyyy, Daddy. I wanna wear this for my nap.

Me: Evie that’s not yours.

Evelyn: Whose is it?

Me: That’s your baby brother’s.

Evelyn: I have a baby brother? Heeeyyyyyyy, mommy. Daddy says I have a baby brother.

Christy: You do, but he’s not here yet. God hasn’t finished making him.

Evelyn: Daddy, mommy says my baby brother not here yet, so I wear this for my nap.

Hahaha
